1851 census, HADDOCK
« on: Tuesday 11 July 06 23:52 BST (UK) »

I had previously made some enquiries re the HADDOCK family, but have now made contact with a direct descendant and would love to find them in the 1851 census.  John A. born 1822, mariner, with wife Mary born 1820 and children Jane 1847 and Mary born 1849, possibly Arthur as a baby, all born Sunderland.

In 1861 they are living in East Street, Sunderland.

Thank you, Linda

Hi again Lindyloo

I have just had another look at the Original Image regarding John Haddock. He as been transcribed as John Oliver Handon and at first glance Idid think it said Haddock but it does look like Handon and not Haddock.
Either way the others look like  they are definatley yours so if someone as a few minutes to check the look up i would appreciate it.

Joe:

Many thanks for this.  I believe it is them, transcribed wrongly.  John's middle name is actually Allison.

His wife Mary (nee Meldrum) has a sister Elizabeth (possible twin), and a Elizabeth Meldrum married an Albert PHILIPS in Dec. 1/4 1840, South Shields district according to Free BMD.  So they are possibly lodging with his wife's sister.  Not sure where the comedian fits in!!
