I am searching on Henry Essex (son of David Essex who lived at Brandhouse Farm, Avening) who was born in Avening in 1840. I believe he died in Bolton in 1881 but would like to know his whereabouts on each census date.
Also trying to find out details of his marriage. I believe he married Esther Harding but can find nothing to substantiate this.

No sign of them in 1871. I am not sure that some of the census pages were missing for that census, perhaps someone can tell you if they are. I have looked for him and his wife and children in 1871, and I carn't see any of them.

Ricky - thanks for all your help. It has shed a lot of light on the family and I now know when they were in Lancashire and why he died in Bolton !! Most of the rest of the family stayed in Gloucestershire.
