Hi Elizabeth,

The Tayside Phone Book lists 23 Mitchells in Brechin, and 2 in Edzell.  There is only 1 Lyall in Brechin.
Trinity Road is still in existence.

Hello,
My Scottish geography is not too hot so forgive me.
The information below is concerning my gggrandfather David Henry Mitchell.
Father : David Henry Mitchell - b 12th May 1836 - in Kincardineshire, Scotland
Married Jan 28th 1871 to Margaret Eleanor Stanley (spinster) at St Stephen's Church, Kidderpore, Bengal, India.
Groom's father : James Mitchell    Bride's father : Thomas Stanley
Groom's occupation shown as "Working in Government Dockyard".
Both showing residence at time of marriage as Kidderpore.
Son :    David Stuart Mitchell - b 10th Nov 1879 Baptised 4th Jan 1880 by Chaplain at St Andrew's Church, Kidderpore.
           Father's occupation shown as Shipwright.
David Stuart died in East Africa 18th October 1918.
Father's work record shows he was variously Builder & surveyor and Builders foreman at the Dockyards between 13th April 1864
and 15th October 1889 when he took his pension.
IGI shows a Margaret Stanley (parents Thomas & Elizabeth) born 23rd May 1849, christened 19th Aug 1849 in Chinsura, West Bengal province which would make her 21 when she married (of full age shown on certificate for bride & groom).
The main problem I have is that I cannot trace what happened to David Henry after he retired in 1889 !
His wife and family seem to have settled in England but he himself disappears from the face of the earth from that point.
I just wondered if you recognise any of these people in your tree.
Thanks for reading this.
