Audrey,
Ok I've set it up for you, go to your website, and follow the link to your tree. Use your webspace username (this time without the rootschat.net part) and your password.
The first thing you will need to do is "Upload your tree".
To do this you will need to click "Browse..", find your GEDcom, click on it, then press the "Upload" button.
Fingers crossed, it should work.

jaq,
as a professional programmer, let me console you with this thought:
we don't read manuals, except as a last (shameful) resort, we just try out this and that and sometime, it works !
so keep trying, Trystan is doing a lovely job of helping everybody, and you'll get there in the end.
And you will be s-o-o-o PROUD !!
Up 'n at 'em, Girl !

hi anyone who has time to read this who isnt falling about laughing at the antics /postings of us wrinklies trying to use our free webpage. i downloaded the phpGEDview from Kent mirror. i unzipped it, but didnt get an .EXE, just 818 files and 30 folders! the readme txt says to upload all the files to my rootschat webspace...so, i had a go which isnt easy uploading 818 files.i thought maybe "select all" would do the trick, but only one file at a time is highlighted. honest, i have tried, i even re-named my .index as a security thingy. And am scouring the readme.txt for clues should it unzip with an .EXE [i'm using unregistered winzip -which hasnt given me any probs in the past.. I told you i was too old for all this, now me myself i has confirmed it. I tried using the FTP Manager to upload one file at a time, but then I thought there must be an easier way:
After unzipping the ZIP file, find the 'phpGEDView' folder. Right-click, select 'Send To', 'Web Publishing Wizard'. A few details of your web address are needed, and it should upload (10 Megs!) About 5 minutes on Broadband, 5 weeks on dialup!
Next steps:
- set permissions of index directory & config file.
- run some admin tasks
- upload your Gedcom file
- tell everyone about your site!
(I'm at the uploading GEDcom stage)

Audrey,
I had a look at your setup, and you had uploaded two GEDcoms, which I know you are able to do with phpGedview. However the only one of the GEDcoms was "Imported" (there was an "Import" button next to it) on the Admin page.
Delete Edit Edit Privacy Default GEDCOM Gedcom File Gedcom Title Configuration File Import Gedcom Download
The system didn't know which one to display - so I clicked the "Default GEDCOM" for the one that had imported alright. For some reason the other gedcom just wan't importing, so I've deleted it. I would suggest trying again with the other GEDcom.
Under the "Edit Privacy" I've set "Show Living Names" to "Show only to admin users" - but you can change that if you don't want to protect the identity of living people.
Anyhow, cutting a long story a little bit shorter, your tree is now viewable to others.
