No it's not a daft question at all - it's a very important question.
You can give your address as:
www.sewellfamilytree.rootschat.net
(that will take them to your main CMSimple site too)
or you can give them:
www.sewellfamilytree.rootschat.net/tree
(That will bypass the CMSimple site, and take them straight to the phpGedView one with your tree on it)
I would give them the first one, becasue you may want to add to it later. (just to confuse things, you can drop the "www" bit, but people are used to seeing it on website addresses)

Don't panic. It's step two you need to look at:
Change the config.php to "read write execute, read write onfig.php to "read write execute, read write execute, read write execute" (or '777'):
1. Upload the files to your webserver
2. Set write permissions on config.php and the "index" directory. For optimal
security, you should move the "index" directory to a location outside of
your webspace.
3. Point your browser to the directory where you uploaded your PhpGedView files
(http://www.yourserver.com/PhpGedView/)
4. Enter your configuration settings. If you moved the index directory be sure
to specify the correct location to it on this page. Save the configuration
paramters.
5. Enter the default administrative user
6. Login as this user and upload your gedcom file
7. Save the gedcom configuration settings
8. Import the gedcomexecute, read write execute" (or '777'):
