Clifford & Violet Elsmore, Rubery
« on: Friday 14 July 06 18:31 BST (UK) »

Hi there,
Can anyone possibly help me with this brickwall.
When I was a child we were taken to visit elderly relatives Violet and Clifford Elsmore in Rubery.
Violet was my blood relative. But in what way I was never told.
So it's time to solve the mystery !
All that I know is that Violet  was born 27th June 1914 and her husband Clifford Basil Elsmore was born about 1919. They both died in 2002. (Death's registered Bromsgrove)
I am interested to find out Violet's maiden name and date of marriage to Clifford.
Any help or advice much appreciated

Hi there

Had a look through the marriage index 1910-1914 but didn't spot anything.

Are you sure it was Leah?  When was she born?  (Might indicate earliest year of marriage.)

Hello Dave,
Thank you for your help. It's very much appreciated
Yes, she is definatley Leah's daughter.
Leah's details are -
Leah Evans born 29th November 1886, christened 13th October 1889 Birmingham  –daughter of Pamela Matilda Evans
The plot thickens, I will phone my sister tonight to try and find a bit more info.
It's one of those situations where you wished you had listened through key holes a bit more when you were a child !  Wink Wink Wink

Best Wishes,

You could look for the deaths on ancestry.co.uk on the GRO Indexes if its still free!

Hello again

Can't see Samuel or Leah on the NBI or in the (searchable) GRO deaths index for 1984-2004 - but that's no great surprise.

Best bet would be to register a guest account at Ancestry and then trawl through the deaths indexs from 1914 onward.
http://www.ancestry.co.uk

Just click on the "England & Wales, BMD Index" link and take it from there.

Cheers
Dave

PS - Yes it's still free!  Cheesy
