Frank House
« on: Saturday 15 July 06 09:38 BST (UK) »

Hello ,
I am hoping to find descendants of Frank House who I believe was born in Paddington 1880. He wrote a couple of books , one of which I am very interested in. The book is called A Short Record Of The 59th Siege Battery R.A.
This book is a summary of the battery in which my late grandfather served and possibly Frank House also.
Hoping someone knows the family,
Regards
Alan

Hello, Alan,

You do not say whether you have any census info on your Frank House.

I have found him in the 1881, '91 & 1901, I can send you transcripts if you haven't got them.

Also a marriage    (source freeBMDs)
Frank House
Dec ¼    1907  St George Han Sq.  1a  891

possible partner
Cecil. Henrietta Henland    or
Florence  Evans

Hello Meliora,
I have a Frank H House on  1881 census aged 1 at Warlock Rd , London and at 24 Oaklands Grove on 1901. He was a telegraphist then. I also have a Frank H House in army 1914-18 Corporal , RGA 88174, hopefully all the same person. I understand that a Frank House also wrote 2 books on coarse fishing, again whether its the one I  am after I don't know. I did not know about  marriage though.

Hello, Alan,

1891 census
RG9/46   folio 70 page 38
36 Richmond Gdns,  Hammersmith

Joseph W House,  age 34  Railway Cashier  b  St James Westminster
Margaret   wife age 46     b Surrey, Limpsfield
Frank  son age 11            b Wetsbourne Park, London

This entry definitely said Joseph, a mistake somewhere.

Re.      the WW1 service record, gave a look at the National Archives website, you may be able to find something on him there.

www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline

re.    the coarse fishing books by Frank House, have a look at this site, I tried the links, classified & authors but found nothing for a Frank House, but you may find something interesting, worth a trawl around.    Otherwise there is a link, (top menu) to services which shows an email address, so an enquiry to them might yield a result.

Good luck,

Meliora

Hello Meliora,
Thanks for 1891 census, much appreciated. I have found that a Frank Holman House wrote a book called Timber At War and a Frank G House wrote Handbook Of Coarse Fishing{published by Bear -Hudson, London 1944.
Which one wrote my book I am after I don't know, I might order fishing book in case it mentions anything about author and his other books.
I am still hoping descendants might pick up on this and have a copy of book.
Regards
Alan
