Can anyone give me any information on my Great Grandfather Humphrey Perkins ,born in Clapton, Northampton about 1852. He moved to London some time later and in 1881 lived in West Ham with his wife Martha and 5 children. Where can I access the parish records for Clapton? Hopefully, Forbes

I don't have the fiches for Clopton (available from the Northants Record Office), but would just ask, what was the address in West Ham of your PERKINS? My great-grandfather James CHEW (from Wadenhoe, born 1849) also ended up living in West Ham, and I sense that neighbours from Northants seem to have kept together when moving to London around that time. Even if they're not related to each other, I'd be interested to know if this is one such case.
Cheers Geoff

Hello Forbes
I looked for Humphrey Perkins for you today at the Northampton record office, but sadly the parish registers for Clopton have not yet been deposited there. The last date they have for baptisms is 1811.Far too early for Humphrey. They suggest writing direct to the church. The village is now known as Clopton, and is near Oundle.
Good luck and sorry I couldn't find anything else for you.
Carol

Hi Carol, Thanks for looking for Humphry. He certainly is proving to be elusive. I will follow your suggestion and write to Clopton. Thanks again for your help, Forbes

Hi Forbes Thought you might like this:
Marriage at Clipstone, 17 May 1840 William Perkins of full age, widower, baker, father William Perkins, labourer Elizabeth Humphrey, of full age, spinster, dressmaker, father John Humphreys, labourer Signed William Perkins (x), Elizabeth Humpherys (sig) Witnesses Thomas Whymant (x), Harriet Humphrey (x)
1841 census Clipstone (all one household): Name, age, occupation, whether born in county William Perkins, 30, baker, y Elizabeth Perkins, 25, y Lewis Perkins, 6, y Elias Perkins, 1 mth, y Thomas Humphreys, 15, y John Humphreys, 10, y William Humphreys, 20, y
Checked again for baptisms but no Elias or Lewis. Elias is not there in 1851 although there is a William and Elizabeth both aged 35 with a 7 mth son William but as there were several Humphreys and Perkins families around that area it is probably one of those
Happy Christmas
