hi i am trying to solve this mystery for my gt grandad he is well in his 90's and we were talking the other day he was born about 1912 however he never knew his grandfather benjamin wileman born 1863 measham as he died about 1894 so i have order that cert to try and find out for him how his grandfather died however he never heared his grandmother mentioned much
name annie wileman maiden name poole born about 1867 married ben 1 year before his deatrh in 1893 and you would have thought she would have stayed and looked after her only son george thomas wileman born newhall 1893 as he would be 1 when his father died but in the 1901 census with his father gone he is with his grandparents and no parent - not even his mum and if she re married surely she would have taken him but it seems not
so did she disaper of the face of the earth forever i really want to put my gt grandads mind to rest hope you can help ! regards jason
Annie could have died. Deaths from diseases like TB were very common. OR She could have remarried.
I have a couple of instances in my family where the new husband or wife wasn't prepared to take on the children and they were looked after by relatives. Sad, but that was life and times were hard.
She appears to be married and living with her in-laws in 1891. Do you have her marriage certificate?
The reason I ask is that there is a possible marriage for her in 1900 to a Joseph SMITH (the two others on the page married each other). Howver, I am unable to find an Ann* SMITH whose age and place of birth match the 1891 census on the census for 1901.
Do you know her age on marriage and hre father's name? Better still, have you found her in 1881?
