Hi Cathy,
Have you or your friend had a look at www.dorset-opc.com? Lots of data plus a link for Purbeck researchers on the Church Knowle page.

My great grand aunt Sarah Luker married a John Hatchard both were from Corfe Castle. They also had a son John he married Mary Mineham and they also had a son John. The opc for Corfe Castle is also related to the Hatchards I believe, and lives in Australia so it may be worth contacting her. Carol

Hi I have a John Hatchard on my family tree bap 9-10-1763 at Church Knowles. I've done no research on the family as such, only logged the members. There is a marriage between a John Hatchard and Rachell Diffy at Corfe castle on the 12-5-1784. There is a baptisam for Rachell Diffy at Corfe Castle on 1-8-1762 making her about 22 years of age at her marriage. I've looked at the baptisams of Corfe Castle for a John hatchard from 1745 to 1770 but can't find one. So it could be quite possible that my John from Church Knowles (which is only a few miles away) could be the one, given that the tradition is as now that the marriage would take place in the girls parish. The only way to say for sure would be to see the ban's of marriage if there are any which would state there parishes. Get back to me with your thoughts
Regards John

Hi, I've had another search. It would look as though John and Rachel were the parents of the John Hatchard who married my great grand aunt. My research has been linked to the Lukers but if I can be of any help please feel free to ask. Carol
