Surname Interest - MEERS/MEARS - Elsden
« on: Thursday 28 October 04 20:35 UTC (UK) »

I would be very much interested in sharing data on: 1) Meers/Mears from Stoke by Clare; and 2) Elsden from Whepsted, Chevington, and Chedburgh.

I am not sure if this is of any help. I am tracing the names of Meers/Mears and Kings. The Kings are in Birdbrook (Essex) and Stoke by Clare (Suffolk)

The Meers married into the Kings. I have found a baptism  for a James Meers 11th July 1756 in Birdbrook. He may be at a pinch your James Meers

Edmund:
Sorry for the long delay in responding to your memo, but yes, your james meers could very much be my James Meers.  Do you have the name of his parents or any siblings??.  My james Meers married Mary Argent, 12 DEc 1775.  Have you come across any info on the Argents??  Please contact me by personal message.

cheers,
ian
