Gypsy ancestor?

I have been told that my 4xgreat grandmother Mary King b Berkshire abt 1792 was a gypsy.  I know nothing about her before she married Thomas Mackrell.  Is there anyway I can find out.  I live in Australia.  Thomas and Mary imigrated to Tasmania after Thomas served a 7 year sentence in N.S.W.  He was sent out on the Eleanor.
