Thanks Kerry - the one click takes you out and I wanted it to open in another window, so that will do it
I'm really enjoying this now. Think I'll take up writing as a career

Excellent!!! I'm glad that helped.
And didn't you take up writing as a career
I keep looking around at other things to add to my website, NOF is so flexible and easy to use once you get into it!! Can't wait for winter when I have more time to do it.
I always wanted to be a writer, just never had the time, my english teacher at school used to read my compositions to the class every week, he said I had talent but could I please write about something other than romance and horses!!!!!!
One day I will write that novel!!

Hi Kerry
Reading through your message again, I think that you were talking about creating links in tables (you refer to cells). I'm creating links in text boxes.
I've shown below what comes up if you highlight a phrase in text and click on the link button on the Page design bar (indicated by the little hand!) or on the Link button in the Options of the Text Properties box.
As you can see, it gives you the option of Internal, Smart, External or File. Then, depending on your selection, it lists your pages (in internal link) or poss urls in external.
For External links, if I just press 'Link' on bottom right, when active, it just directs to that url and the only way to get back is via the browser back arrow. I want it to open in a new window. No prob with internals - just use nav buttons, but it would be nice to get back to the exact place - I'm sure it can be done.
Maybe it's Smart links that I need - no it's not
I'll go and experiment some more - Target (lower left in Link) does have some options like pop-up, etc.

Solved it
It's the 'Existing' option in Target - opens up in a new window - though why it's called 'existing' is beyond my ken
Could do this with Internal links as well

Kerry was right in terms of NOF7. Haven't got that far with NOF8 and I ain't got NOF9! Glad you sorted it though.

Thanks Julian -
NOF 9 Text Properties > Link> Target > Existing has more options, I'm just testing them at the moment.
Oh, this is such a lovely WYSIWYG package. I like it more every time I use it

Hi Gadget
Glad you sorted it, been out all day with Pete birdwatching and walking. We haven't been out for ages.
The existing is the same option as when you put links in tables, I couldn't work out what it means either!

Already started to think about Pete's website!!

That Manual is far too large and it is not user friendly. (I was very hot on user friendliness when I worked in the industry). My one gripe about them. I've used masses of paper printing out various Sections
Then they have the cheek to e-mail you about a soft back version costing nearly £70.
Humph!

£70!!!!!!!!!
That's ridiculous!!!!! No manual is ever worth that sort of money and as you say most are not readable anyway!!!!!
So far I have taught myself the bits I need to know as I go along and am managing fine.

An interesting observation about my corrupt photo link:
I had accidentally distorted the image on Sunday, so I re-did it. Now I've been in to correct it, I've found that it was the only image that I hadn't optimized.
A possible reason and a reminder to be systematic, I suppose.

I think it was something like that with me, I had cropped a photo or something and had to redo it because it didn't show at first.
NOF really is a good package and I don't know why more people don't use it. It is so simple to use and as you say the FTP is brilliant. I have used various packages in the past where the FTP has been cumbersome.

I'm starting on my dreaded Trees
Doing them as direct descendant sideways in a table - cross between Julian's,Kerry's and Biker's. I wanted to put 4 generations on each table but find that this means that users have to scroll. If I could resize a few cells it would solve it.
These table are pretty restricting - you seem to be able to change row or column size but not individual cells and they only allow flat tables - no 2+ arrays Think I'll go back to old style coding if this is what they offer
Anyone know of a way of resizing individual cells
I'll just keep muddling along but definitely no stars for NOF today!

I don't think you can resize cells on their own as they are part of a column but you can merge or split cells.
It is a bit restrictive but then I don't suppose the creators of NOF have tried to do a family tree with it.
