Hi
I have an address where a relative was born. Is there some kind of directory that could tell me who else may have lived there/owned the property? The period is 1943 and it is in Whitley Bay.

Hi Sharon

Best bet would be the electoral registers which you should find at the local record office or possibly local history centre. The registers will only list adults with the vote - ie. 21 yrs +

The Land Registry may help - registration after conveyancing was compulsory after 1947 - I seem to recall.

But best to check - Google up the Land Registry site and have a search thru ...

Unfortunately, Land Registration on sale only became compulsory in Northumberland after 1975, (see p. 10 of
http://www.landregistry.gov.uk/assets/library/documents/lrpg051.pdf ) so the Land Registry is unlikely to be able to help.
