Seeking families of William Cousin and his sister Mary Ann aka Polly. They were both born in Nenthead, nr Alston, Cumberland, England. It is believed that they worked in or had something to do with a Jam Factory.
How would I find info on Jam Factories in Canada?

You do not say when William and Mary Ann were born. It helps to know the time frame to look for people.
There are fruit growing areas of commercial consequence in Nova Scotia, Ontario and British Columbia, so there certainly would have been fruit processing industries in those three provinces, and possibly in some of the others as well to service local needs.
Hi, Thanks for the response. I found them on 1911 Census in Brant, Ontario but they seemed to be working on telephone lines. My Mum told me they worked (or owned) a jam factory!
Just to be sure this is your family as you said Mary Ann & the 1911 entry says Mary Jane... http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/View.jsp?id=79458&highlight=4 Mary Jane Cousin married Thomas W Vipond Newcastle T. registered march Q. 1904 ?? J.J. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just noted, there was a sister in Law, Annie as well. ( not a son-in-law as transcribed)..did they have a sister Anne? are we looking at the right census entry ?
There were some fruit & Jam factories in Alberta as well...I am sure we did this search for someone else...but I can't find the thread... I found several Viponds in B.C..Wonder if perhaps it was their offspring who went on to own/work at the factories? J.J.
