Ceter House ?? St Albans.

Could anyone possible tell me what Ceter House was? in St Albans in 1946. I know it is no longer there now. I think it may be a home for unmarried mothers but not sure just guessing.
If it is a home for unmarried mothers, are there any records kept? If so does anyone know where?

Any help i would be very grateful for.
