Hi Pennie,
Thank you for reply, it is a valuable, and surprising, addition. It also illustrates the paucity of information, there should be a dozen or more marriages based on the recorded births for the lines investigated so far; taking all the potential lines it should be over 30.
I am happy that Richard is one of mine, and I expect him to prove to be the grandson of John or Edward - input from any other RootsChatters most welcome.
Anne and Alice point to an area of research which I may need to defer for a while. If they are mine, and I suspect they are, it shows that the Honey migration from Sunningwell started much earlier than predicted. My thought at present is that Anne is the daughter of the other one of John and Edward, and that Alice is her neice.
One of the joys of RootsChat is that you rarely get the answer you expect, so that tendencies to tunnel vision are dispelled.
Many thanks for your help Pennie
Colin

Hello Colin, I have been looking through the various posts re. the Honey family of Sunningwell as I too have ancestors of this family. I noted that the entries were a couple of years old now so I hope that it is still possible to contact you in this way. I seem to agree with the info as I have understood it and I wondered whether you have continued your Honey research to perhaps point me in the right direction re. Edward Honey? The furthest that my research has taken me is that William Honey (born 1626) who married Elizabeth Clements was the son of Edward Honey who I presume was born c1590. If you could shed any more light on any details re. Edward I would be most grateful please. Also, I have Robert (born 1664) who was the son of William Honey & Elizabeth Clements. I have never been able to locate a marriage entry for him and I wondered whether you have had any luck in this area? Should you be able to help me at all I would be very grateful if you would contact me please.
With many thanks, Treefan.

Thanks Sue,
They are all useful because I a sure they are all descendents of Edward, and I have a longer term objective of demonstrating how Edward populated Oxon and Berks with Honeys. Towns and villages with his descendents include Lambourne, Warborough, Benson and Reading.
You are right about the spelling, in 1620 the spelling was Honye.
Once again, thank you for your help.
Best wishes
Colin

Hi All , I too come down through Edward " Hony" to James and Ann Wheeler, then their son William b 1769 and his dau Martha by his 2nd wife and nearly all were born in Sunningwell or close to it. There are lots of spellings of the name , such as Hony, Hunny, Honney until lastly Honey. I have been asked if the Honey name originated in Germany as Honig, or if they had anything to do with the Canary Islands. Can anyone help me please Val
