Hi,
I am doing a one name study of the Rossiter family tree and am looking for information please about the parents, grandparents, siblings and children of Helen Dorothy Rossiter born on 25th December 1891 and baptised on 6th March 1892 at St Mary's, Reading.
Parents are believed to be Joseph & Elizabeth Rossiter but I have no details about them.
Any information would be greatly appreciated please.TIA.
Best wishes

This is the best match I've been able to make.
1901 census:
Reading St Mary RG13 Piece 1144 Folio 84 Page 19 6 Weston ? Rd (all ROSSITER)
Joseph, 55, journeyman baker, b Marylebone Elizabeth, 50, (no occ), Lynn Norfolk Conley?, son, 19, Turner and Fitter - cycle, Tilehurst Berkshire Frederick, son, 16, tailors cutter (possibly), Reading Berkshire Ellen, daur, 9, (no occ) Reading Berkshire
I'll have a look at earlier census.

These look interesting:
1871 Reading St Mary RG10 Piece 1278 Folio 15 Page 23 11 Chain Street
Ann KAYS, 63, wid, annuitant, b Oxon Woodcut (Woodcote) Joseph T ROSSITER, son, 25, newsagent, Middlesex Marylebone Ann HENNUS?, 63, wid, assistant, Middlesex Westminster
1851:
Henley (Oxon) HO107 Piece 1725 Folio 153 Page 2 Hart St
Thomas HOPE, 32, grocer, Oxon Woodcut Maria HOPE, sis, 36, (no occ), Oxon Woodcut Hannah, sis, 25, (no occ), Oxon Woodcut Joseph Thomas ROSSITER, nephew, 5, (no occ), London
interestingly an Ancestry subscriber has submitted an amendment to the surname as it has been transcribed as ROPITON

Hi Harry,
Many thanks for that.
The 1901 Census family is right and I recognise them in my database though I have Helen listed as Ellen.
The 1851 and 1871 census information is interesting. It looks like Joseph's father died and his mother re-married.
Looks too like a sister married into the Hope family.
Is it possible to find his father in the 1841 Census please?
Best wishes

Hi rcuser,
I did have a look at 1861 census but couldn't find anything that fitted as I wondered whether he would be with his parents. Without a father's name, I can't look at the 1841 census.
There is a birth record for Joseph that would give you the name of the father (if you want to purchase the cert):
Jun-Sep 1845 Marylebone Vol 1 Page 150 - Joseph Thomas ROSSITER

Hi Harry,
Many thanks for that.
Have been investigating the Hope-Rossiter link. I have found a marriage at Marylebone in the June Qtr of 1844 between Ann Hope ( possibly sister to Thomas & later became Ann Keys) and Thomas Rossiter. The date fits and seems to support the link outlined in the census.
I also found a death in Marylebone in the June Qtr of 1845 for Thomas Rossiter.
Joseph Thomas was born in the September Qtr of 1845 and never saw his father.Sadly, this left his mother to bring him up alone until she remarried.
What do you think?
Best wishes

Hi Harry,
Just checked the IGI which gives the marriage of Thomas Rossiter & Ann Hope on 21 APR 1844 at All Souls, Saint Marylebone, London.
