Can anyone help with a marriage, also census records, of a George Carruthers and Ann Thomlinson in Cumberland. Possibly in Carlisle or Farlam.
Any details would be appreciated.

Thank you so much for that and so quickly to.
We believe that they married around 1850 but going by the oldest child in the census you gave us it would be more likely to have been around 1856.
We cannot find the marriage at all.

The 1861 census has George Carruthers a circular sawyer born in Farlam and living in Farlam with wife Ann born St. Mary's Carlisle. Their eldest child was born circa 1856 which might indicate a marriage occuring after the 1851 census.
On the 1851 census in Carlisle is a George Carruthers of about the right age, a labourer born Mitton. His father is a joiner. His younger brother Richard was also born Mitton. On the 1861 census I cannot find either a George or a Richard Carruthers born Mitton. I can however find a Richard Carruthers of the same age born Farlam living in Carlisle. His occupation was a sawyer. The grandchildren with the Carlisle family on the 1851 census born Bowbank were still with their grandparents in 1861. On that census their birthplaces were given as Farlam.

By the way I do not know if George has a second name.
This information will help Janice greatly so I will pass it onto her so that she can put this all together now and then keep looking for their marriage. Of course they may never have married

Hello on the 91 census it has civil Parish Wallsend Town Willington Quay
John Carruthers not George born Tarlan Cumberland Joiner age 32
wife Ann age 28 born Wallsend

withn Isabella with do under the Carruthers mother in law age 50 could be a step mother born Wallsend living on own means
Have to go now. With Valdas help also you have quite a few of the family cannot see a marriage
Theie is a marriage 1850 with Ann Thomlison and quite a few on the page but with a George Edgar that is why I asked if he had a second name thought it could have been missed off. Tried with the spelling Tomlinson also.
