Blacksmiths
« on: Tuesday 25 July 06 01:11 UTC (UK) »

I am currantly trying to trace relatives of a
Francis Duddy

who was a blacksmith. His father was also a blacksmith a Mr
James Duddy
. They were from Leckpatrick in Co. Tyrone. What I do not know is if it was a family business or were they working for blacksmiths. Where did they work as blacksmiths? I am led to believe it may have been in Strabane.Anyone from Co.Tyrone, Leckpatrick who could shed some light on this I would be very grateful.

Hi. Kintree.
Thanks for your response. All I can say at the moment is that on Francis's marriage certificate of 1910 that he was a blacksmith. As regards his age on the marriage cert it just states full age? and that he lived in Church Street in Strabane at the time. It also states that his father James was a blacksmith. I hope this may be of some help to you.

Not really a response to your enquiry, but might be relevant: have you seen that there appears to be currently a blacksmith/farrier in Strabane named Duddy ?
