Baptism Lookup Please - DAVEY - Poole St. James
« on: Wednesday 26 July 06 09:01 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Does anyone have access to the parish registers for Poole St. James?

I am interested to know more about the following baptism:

Mary Ann DAVEY parents Robert & Elizabeth 15 Apr 1807 Poole St James

Is there any further information given?
Are there any other DAVEY baptisms about this time?

Thanks,

Aillin,
Australia

Hi Aillin,

You might find some details on www.dorset-opc.com ....there are various parish registers but I think the site is still being worked on.

Good luck,

Hi Aillin,

I'm planning to visit my local Family History Society HQ at the weekend and could have a look through their data if you can't find any details on the Dorset On Line Parish Clerks site.

Hi Aillin,

I could not spend long looking today but did manage to find some info for you.   I hope it is useful...

Baptisims I found were:

Caroline d of Susanna on 6th March 1811, b 16th February 1811.

Then 3 children of a William and Sarah:

Jane on 26 November 1780
Elizabeth on 4th Decenber 1782
William on 1st May 1785

I was unable to find out any more about Mary Ann Davey than you already have.

I found 3 marriages:

Thomas Davey and Mary Davey 5th August 1776 (Thomas is shown as a Sojourner; not of the parish)

Thomas Cram and Susan Davey 11th April 1815

Robert Davey (the Younger) of Ringwood and Mary White Manning on 3rd April 1826

I hope this is of use to you.

Thankyou very much for the lookup Nanny Jan. It is particulary interesting to see the name Susanna Davey amongst the entries.
About my DAVEYs:
I am looking for the baptism record of my 3rd great grandmother, Mary Anne DAVEY c.1807-1809.
In different Census years she gives her birthplace as either Bridport, Dorset or Bow, Devon.
Her father was Robert Davey (a Timber Merchant) and I know that she had at least 2 sisters: Susanna (Susan) and Tryphena (Fanny), and probably a brother John.
Tryphena's baptism is listed in the IGI 1799, Nymet Tracey (Bow), Devon with parents Robert and Ann. It seems that Susan as probably baptised in 1811 in Bridport, parents Robert & Elizabeth - the IGI has a marriage in 1805 of Robert Davey and Elizabeth Dell in Nymet Tracey (Bow), Devon - so my theory is now that Robert had a second marriage - just a theory at the moment though as I haven't been able to look at a film of the register. There is no apparent baptism for Mary Anne in Bridport.

I found this baptism of a Mary Anne DAVEY in a Dorset baptism index about the right year with the right parents names and I was curious as to whether this could be 'my' Mary Anne.

Thanks again for your help,

Regards,
