You now see that some part of this family were still in Ireland in 36/37, you would have to try and search from then to perhaps when they immigrated, if they did.
Origins shows that Anthony Whittaker, James, William, Joseph & Bridget, Michael leased lands from lords in Ballyphilip, Birr, Clonbullogue, Kilcoursey and that a Harriet Whittaker leased out land in Edenderry. These are places to try and see at what time they may have moved from there, if they did.

An Andrew Whittaker still lives in Garrygolan Tullamore and could be worth a letter or phone call.
Whittaker's were in Edenderry in 1814 when William & John were signatories to the building of a wall around the church in Edenderry.
Death; 1888, Alicia, eldest daughter of the late James Whittaker, Edenderry, July 15th, at residence of her brother-in-law Robert Saunderson M.D.
1870; Mary Ann,(59) wife of Robert Knownton, eldest dtr of the late William Whittaker, Edenderry, Kings county.

Hi Jack,
thank you soooo much for all this. I am amazed and very happy. For some reason, I thought there might not be any Whittakers left. I thought I may have to go backwards from 1845 when my Eliza was born. But, this has given me a new lead. I know nothing of her family. Only that her father was James, a farmer. I don't know if she had any siblings, or what her mother's name was.
