Hi Red

Voice from the past  Grin Grin Grin

I thought the Lancashire BMDs were pretty complete.

Have you found him in 1938 on the full index?

Hi Gadget,

I had thought I found him, I had date and burial site, even got a kind soul from here to take pics for me. I didn't get death cert though.

This lady I have recently contacted says her grandmother remarried in 1922 and on the marriage cert George (her father) is deceased. She says her family members told her he died in Rainhill hosp in 1915.

The district was probably West Derby. Not sure though.  His wifes maiden name was Ellis.

Only George McLennan registered as dying 1915 was under 1 and died Hull. I also checked 1914 and 1916 but nothing. I would have thought that they'd have got the spelling of the name correct by then  Undecided

Hi Gadget,

thanks for taking the time to look for me. I guess the only way I will find out is if I order the 1938 death certificate.  Undecided

As you say, you would think they could get the spelling corect by this time. George and Charlotte could read and write.

I am going to the records office today, so I will ask if they have any records from Rainhill Hosp.

Thanks, Red   Smiley

You might also check with your relative about the marriage cert - what occupation did it give for George, etc.

Keep the thread informed of your findings  Cheesy

Hi Gadget,

I found all marriage certs concerned and they are the correct family. Occupations etc are the same.

I think my next step is to buy the death cert for the George I have. Will a death cert in 1938 give me occupation. He was a Brass Moulder.

I did have a very kind lady who works at the record office look at Rainhill Hosp records for the year given. She couldn't find anything either.

Red

I've been thinking (bad sign  Grin )

Although we checked for deaths on the full GRO index for George 1913-1922, we didn't check for the death of the Kenneth George MacLennan that I found the birth ref for.

It might be worth doing a check on that.

I'll have a look over the next few days andget back to you.

Hi Gadget,

I have done a full death search for Kenneth George and George. I also tried a soundex search from 1912 to 1920 !!.............absolutley zilch  Roll Eyes

You know, all the census 1881, 1891 and 1901 all state his name as George, no mention of Kenneth. Also, his marriage cert and baptisms of his children all record his name as George. Problem is, I can't even find his birth, although I know it must be between 1872 and 1874. I have even looked on Scotlandspeople.

Grrr Sad  He has to be somewhere  Roll Eyes
