Malvern - family with surname MALVERN
« on: Sunday 30 July 06 10:36 BST (UK) »

Can some kind soul help me find any MALVERNS living in Malvern Worcestershire?
My sister in law had the surname Malvern and it has always been a source of interest for the family. I know her mpther was Maud. (I've done 1881 on line.)

I dont want to ask her directly as I hope to give her a famliy tree however small as a surprise for her 65th wedding anniversary.

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike

On the 1891 the only Malvern born and living in Malvern is

Edith Emma b 1877 she is a servant in Gt Malvern.

Are you looking for Mauds family ?

Hi Mike

Your sister-in-law's maiden name was MALVERN - is that right?

If you search the complete BMD indexes, you can find her mother's maiden name by looking for S-i-L's birth, assuming she was born after 1911.

You say you have found Maud in 1881: if you post what you have here we can perhaps trace her family back, but that won't be MALVERN presumably?

You can trace S-i-L's parents marriage in the indexes once you know Maud's maiden name.

Let us know what you can (withour revealing the details of living people) and we will try to help.

kind regards, Arranroots  Wink

S-I-L maiden name was Malvern.

Her mother's maiden name was Maud Bannister

A Maud Malvern appears in the 1881 census, I got a bit mixed up there!!!!!

I expect I shall have to ask her for more details, but that will spoil the surprise.

Please do not spend too much time on this.

There are a couple of MALVERN families in 1901: heads are CP MALVERN and Fredrick MALVERN.  Both have sons at home that might have married Maud.

From what you know of the family, can you find a marriage in the full indexes?  It is not on freebmd, so I am assuming it was around 1920?  The S-i-L's marriage in 1941?

You don't say how much time you have to complete this task?

kind regards, Arranroots  Wink

You are a diamond!

In the past I traced a newspaper cutting for a lass in Australia over several days, so now my "bread cast on the water" is returning three fold so to speak.......

I didnt want you to feel I was all take and no give.

Hey, we know each other well enough by now!  Smiley

Struggling with Alice/ Maud in 1901 - will go to 1891 and see if that helps...

Bear with me!

Nope!  We need help here.

Either more clues from the family, or could you contact the registrar to find out Alice/Maud's father's name?

I will check back tomorrow night to see how this is going.

Usually the couple married in the parish where the wife lived. e.g. Upton on Severn.

Cradley is the other side of the county, however, I was surprised with how much folk moved about in old times.

Now I have a starting point I must visit the record centre, this is only a few minutes away from where we live. BUT as a carer 24/7 I cant always escape for an hour.

WHOOOOOOOSH!!!!  All the Malverns back to 1791 fall straight into my lap(top). I paid up and looked big on Genesreunited and there they were. The biggest co-incidence was I went to school with Roger the tree owner.

I dont think we shall do much better than this. Thank you so much for your help Arranroots, and to all who took the trouble to read my post.

I only hope I can contune to help others in the future.
