Hello Tassie,
In this section it is all indexed by surname so I had better luck!
I found 9 Thomas Williamson's, 2 of which are worth looking into. We have Thomas, Joiner, 5 Caroline Street Hulme and Thomas, Dyer, 24 Muslin Street Salford.
The two area's are very close to each other.
I found 4 Robert Williamson's Painter in Hulme 13 or 15 Belleek Street Hulme Scavenger 19 Leigh Street Ancoats .......yes it really does say this Beer Retailer 64 Lower Cambridge St Chorlton on Medlock Labourer 95 Portugal Street Ancoats
Regards
Sarah

Hi Sarah, Unfortunately the only trade the Southwell Family were involved in were Labourers - I don't know if this is much help - although I do know they were eventually involved in the Cotton Industry - Cotton Weaver, Stripper & Grinder (in cotton mill). One was also a Collier. These trades are from info I have pertaining to the 1901 Census of Burnley, Lancashire. (No mentionof Susan(nah)
Susan(nah) SOUTHWELL born circa 1830, Baptised 25 Dec 1833 at Doddington. Cambs. but is found on the 1861 strays index of Lancashire, with her sons John born circa 1850 and Joseph born 1846 - both sons born Cambs.
John then goes on to marry Sarah Jane (surname unknown) as they both appear on the 1881 census of Burnely, Lancashire, with their 4 children.
Joseph came to Australia in 1866. I have no further details on Susanhah after 1861.
Many thanks Deb

Hi Sarah Thank you kindly for your efforts, this has certainly opened up a "few" possibilities. These are 1855 entries...correct ? Once again thanks Kimberley ps Wonderful....now just a process of elimination ! Young George would have been about 7 years or so.

Sarah Gee you have got me going now....!With the conflicting evidence of the George ROBERTS b/c which shows only Maria and the baptism which shows Maria & Thomas ROBERTS.And the m/c for George & Sarah Ann in 1871 which gives Georges' father as George Roberts - Bookkeeper...if there was a match in 1851 at the streets you have found in 1855 directories for a "Triple" ie father George, mother Maria or Thomas (father) & Maria with a little George aged about 3 years...that would solve the BIG problem am I right in thinking this.!! The other very strange coincedence is that somehow, and they would have to have been brought to Australia in 1877,unless someone posted them here,is the Old pen & ink drawings of 1) Salford Cross & Old Bridge,Manchester.2)Ancoats Hall & Old Church Tower & 3)Hulme Hall. Looking at some of the addresses these names jump out ! My mind is spinning ! Kimberley
