Do you have any record in your directory of a John Ecroyd b.1834 in the Accrington area who was eventually a Gas fitter, and also his father-in-law John Battersby from the Clitheroe area. Thankyou very much for your kind assistance

Hello Fizzix,
The only Eckroyd's I found in Accrington were as follows:
Boot and Shoe Makers
John Eckroyd Oswaldtwistle Richard Eckroyd Oswaldtwistle William Eckroyd Oswaldtwistle
Are these your Eckroyd's
You did not say what trade John was involved in, I had a quick look and only found a Leonard Battersby Hairdresser at York Street Clitheroe.
Cheers !

Hello Kimberley,
I found your Thomas Roberts as you suggested. This is all the directory tells me as it does not link family members. It may be worth checking the 1851 or 1861 Census

I would be very grateful for help on the following -
John William Maher on his marriage certificate 17/6/1901 at St. Thomas Ardwick, Reg District Chorlton, aged 28 or 38 (unclear) is said to be a "beerhouse keeper". This is my daughter in laws ancestor and her father says he was Irish. I cannot find him on the 1901 census and find it hard to believe that he married immediately after arriving from Ireland given the dates of census and marriage. Would appreciate any help.
Also Cannot find Frank Taylor (married 17/12/1903 aged 18 yrs at Oldham Registry Office) or his father John Taylor - Frank (cycle finisher) and John (Truck salesman). They are said to have come from Oldham or Huddersfield. Can anyone help me please.
Regards, Irene Hunt, Australia

Hi Black Sheep, Thanks for trying, I'm afraid they aren't my Ecroyds. Wrong spelling, not that that means anything & John, it turns out, was a gas meter inspector. I'm not sure if the Battersby might be a cousin, I'll keep trying. Thanks again.

Would you be able to check in the 1855 guide for a James Weatherley, a book seller of Market Street, Manchester?
Many thanks.
