LAUGHNANE
« on: Tuesday 01 August 06 16:01 UTC (UK) »

Hi, i am looking for any information on Ann Laughnane.
she was born in Birr. probably sometime in the 1830's.
emigrated to Herts in England.
possibly had married a British soldier stationed at the local barracks.
her married surname was Biscoe.
thanks

yes Adrian thats her.
sorry if the post was a bit too vague, but this was my first entry on this forum.
i know about her life in England, but know absolutely nothing about her life or family in Ireland.
couldn't find a marriage certificate for her in England so assumed she married in Birr.
her husband William (also known as John) was a Chelsea pensioner.
thanks

OK

As her oldest Biscoe child (as shown on the 1861 Census) appears to have been born in about 1857, you are hoping for a marriage in Co Offaly (Kings County) 1850-1857.  (As Ann appears to have been born before 1830, this could even be her second marriage.)

Only non-Catholic marriages had to be registered in the period in question, though a few Catholic marriages were also registered.  The name Biscoe will at all events be pretty rare in the Ireland registers, so it should be easy to find, either in GRO indexes or in parish registers.

Good luck
