He appears to have been Mayor in-
1885
1886
1897
1898
(from list in Kelly's 1900 Directory)
also in 1904 http://www.lincoln.gov.uk/Information_page_+_3_pic_det.asp?id=6570&sec_id=824

Address in 1900, The Hollies, St Catherine's, Newark Rd

Shop - Hugh WYATT, Clothier, hatter, hosier and outfitter, 195 High St

I remember there used to be an outfitters in Lincoln called Wyatt and Hayes in the 1950s and 60s.

1901 census, living at "The Hollies" age 59, single, born near/in Salisbury.  Buried 28 Nov 1914 age 73.
1881 census, living "above the shop" 195 High St.
1871 census, 322 High St
1861 census, Draper's Assistant in Andover, Hants.

Birthplace seems to be something like "Donstead St marys"

Hi Many thanks Geoff !

A lot more info than I had already.  I happened across pictures from 'Donhead St Mary' in Wilts this evening and found him remembered on the gravestone of his parents John & Elizabeth.

This confirmed he was mayor a stunning 5 times and sat on the council for 34 years.

I have a rather old photo of a memorial plaque which apparently featured on some alms houses dedicated to him - would be interested if this rings bells with anyone in Lincoln that they might have some sort of address?
