Thomas Hall, Cootehill, killed WWI - COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 05 August 06 19:41 BST (UK) »

Garvagh, Co. Derry war memorial lists Cpl. T. Hall twice (under those killed & those served). Wreath laid at dedication mentions mother Mary Hall & brother Francis Hall?.
On IGI found births for 3 children of William & Mary (Robertson) Hall- Mary Ann Mullan (1878), Robert (1879), William (1880)- all born in Garvagh area.
Checked CWGC website and found Thomas Hall, Royal Irish Rifles, died 7/3/1917 age 26 "son of William & Mary Hall of Garvagh, Co.Derry. Native of Cootehill, Co.Cavan".
Am researching those on Garvagh war memorial. Does anyone recognise this Hall family or have information on them?

I have heard that some of my family come from Cootehill.

There seems to be some connection with COOTEHILL and COOT HILL!

Even Sam (the famous one) comes into it somewhere.......

Yes, they are 2 different places and the families do SEEM to be connected, possibly brothers, cousins etc!!

There are still Halls living in Cootehill......

If you look on R.I.R. you'll see other Halls in R.I.R that were killed in action.

Hall family, Tyrone and Monaghan..Swan/n family also and a pile of others too! Seems everyone is related to each other....

Thanks for your reply. Was searching for information on Thomas Hall killed in WWI. Family lived in Garvagh, Co. Londonderry and am not sure if any of these Halls stayed in Co. Monaghan.

OK, mine are spread all over the place, incl Donegal, Wexford, and many other places, so I only answered you because I saw Cootehill referred to on your post!
