Cold Harbour, Crewkerne 1851 census
« on: Friday 04 August 06 20:26 BST (UK) »

Just today, I found a possible relative in the 1851 Crewkerne census; Caroline Dening (formerly Hoskins) with her husband Henry and 3 children living at an address called "Cold Harbour".
They are in the section of census labelled "Part of the Parish of Crewkerne, Clapton Horn Ash, Laymoor. Cuckoo Hill Part of Blackdown & Greenham".
Does anyone know whether Cold Harbour was a house, farm, cottage, etc? or just an area? I often like to try and find places on maps, if I can.

As the Head of Household is a farmer of 35 Acres and most of the family are Farmers I think in this case I would say its a farm

Could be, but not always the case, as I've found in past searches elsewhere. Just wondered if anyone local to the Crewkerne area would have come across the name in their travels through their own research; maybe even local history.
