Mann Prior Light and Ringrose families

Is anyone else researching the Mann Light Prior and Ringrose families from 1840 till 1930 in the Hammersmith Fulham Kensington and Chelsea areas?An elusive lot especially the Light and Mann Family.

Hi Ringrose,
There are plenty of Mann's on the 1861 so far - anyone in particular?
13 with the surname Light
Ringrose, Emily, Sarah & William
and many Priors.

Hi there
My Mann family are very elusive. I started with lots of info about my grandfather William Joseph Mann and his 12 siblings but cannot get far back . The 1861 census could give me an answer. The two names I am looking for are William Hart Mann ( ggrandfather)who was born in Pimlico Westminster 1844 and would be about 17.Secondly William Hart Mann his father . All I know about him is that he had died before his sons marriage in 1868.William Hart junior was married from Hasker Street Chelsea in 1868 . I dont know if the family were there in 1861.Hope you can understand all this.

Hi Ringrose,
Yes, I can understand all that. Amongst all the William Mann's, and there were several in 1861, none of the right age.
The census is not yet fully indexed so don't give up on it.
Do you have an address for Pimlico - or just the area, as the 1851 is only partially indexed as well. So far there is only one William Mann and he is 11 on the 1851.
Will keep a watch as a wander through the CD's.

Goodness that was quick. I dont think I have any other info other than William junior would have been 17. His father I know nothing about his birth ,Marriage or death dates .

I Gather your Mann family is not connected to the Mann's in Coventry?

To be honest I am not sure where my gggrandfatherWilliam Hart mann came from. He was in London in the 1830s where he married a Harriett Oliver . She must have died because on my ggrandfather William Hart Mann sbirth cert his mother is down as Mary(nee Cronier). Not having had any luck with early censuses I have hit a brick.So in answer to your ? the family could have come from any where.

am going through the St Michael marriages at the moment (Coventry) and there seems to be several Mann's there - but these are probably going to be too early. The name Cronier is not ringing any bells with me from what I have seen so far.
If I come across any William Manns will let you know.

I think that before I get anyone searching everywhere for William hart Mann I have to find him on the 1851census. in London and find out where he was born. I have no idea how old he would be but he would have a son of the same name who would be about 7 years old.

Get someone to check the 1861 census for you, piece 387 page 132 Camberwell, St George - there is a William Mann there aged 18 and William Mann aged 42 - these are the only ones that I could find both at the same address.
