I'm looking for the family of James W. McBARRON, born c.1824 Ireland, on the 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses in New York, NY. Here's what her family looks like in 1880:
---- 1880 US Census: h. New York, NY James W. McBARRON; head; married; age 56; b. Ireland; parents b. Ireland; Machinist Eliza B. McBARRON; Wife; M; age 51; b. NY; parents b. Ireland; Keeping House Mary E. COONEY; Dau; M; age 28; b. NY; father b. Ireland; mother b. NY; Boarder Richard M. COONEY; SonL; M; age 30; b. NY; parents b. NY; Clerk In Office Ethel COONEY; GDau; S; age 4M; b. NY; parents b. NY James W. McBARRON; Son; S; age 23; b. NY; parents b. NY; Clerk In Store Agnes McBARRON; Dau; S; age 21; b. NY; parents b. NY; At Home Anna C. McBARRON; Dau; S; age 19; b. NY; parents b. NY; At Home Eliza B. McBARRON; Dau; S; age 16; b. NY; parents b. NY; At School John McBARRON; Son; S; age 13; b. NY; parents b. NY; At School Frances J. McBARRON; Son; S; Male; age 11; parents b. NY; b. NY; At School Nellie J. McBARRON; Dau; S; age 8; b. NY; parents b. NY; At School Ann DOOLEY; Other; S; age 19; b. Ireland; parents b. Ireland; Servant Charlotte MILLER; Other; S; age 16; b. NY; parents b. Prussia; Servant ----
The family COULD look like this in 1870:
James W. McBARRON; head; age 46; b. Ireland; Machinist Eliza Bell McBARRON; Wife; age 41; b. NY Mary E. McBARRON; Dau; M; age 18; b. NY James W. McBARRON; Son; S; age 13; b. NY Agnes McBARRON; Dau; S; age 11; b. NY Anna Cecilia McBARRON; Dau; S; age 9; b. NY Eliza Bell McBARRON; Dau; S; age 6; b. NY John McBARRON; Son; S; age 3; b. NY Francis J. McBARRON; Son; S; Male; age 1
And like this is in 1860:
James W. McBARRON; head; age 36; b. Ireland; Machinist Eliza Bell McBARRON; Wife; age 31; b. NY Mary E. McBARRON; Dau; M; age 8; b. NY James W. McBARRON; Son; S; age 3; b. NY Agnes McBARRON; Dau; S; age 1; b. NY
But the name of James's wife might be different in 1860 as I think Eliza Bell (DUFF) was James's second wife.

Wow! My hat's off to you - thanks so very much for doing such a thorough, conscientious job.
What confuses me about this family is why the 1880 and 1900 Censuses state that some of the children's fathers were born in New York and not Ireland. The work of a careless enumerator? It wouldn't be the first time.
Again, thank you, thank you....

Thank you so much for all that, genealiza.
I've only started investigating this family after finding out that Frank Warner BISHOP (1887-1947) fathered (out of wedlock) an old, close friend of my grandmother's, who, I also discovered, was her cousin. It's a knotty part of the tree, but I only wish my more direct line could be so thoroughly documented!
I spent the better part of the day tracking down various birth, marriage, and death certificates of the McBARRONs and BISHOPs, so it's doubly nice to come home to such a wealth of data. Thanks again!
