Generation no. 1. John Nicolson was born bet. 1815 - 1820 occupation: farmer. He married Elizabeth Wright 01 jul 1842 in Walls and Flotta. She was born bet. 1815 - 1820. Children of John Nicolson and Elizabeth Wright are: James, b. 22 Sep 1844, Hoy and Graemsay; Jannet, b. 09 may 1850, walls and Flotta, Orkney; James, b. 16 jul 1843; Christina Straitton, b. 15 oct 1846 and Andrew, b. 04 dec 1851.
Generation no. 2. James Nicolson was born 22 Sep 1844 in Hoy and Graemsay. He married Mary Ann Mowat 08 Nov 1866 in Hoy and Graemsay Orkney, daughter of Sinclair Mowat and Barbara Sinclair. She was born Abt. 1841 in Hoy and Graemsay, and died 13 jun 1919 in Hoy and Graemsay age 78.Children of James Nicolson and Mary Mowat Are:

He married (2) Margaret Ritch 18 January 1872 in Hoy and Graemsay, daughter of Edward Ritch and Stewart Ritch. She was born 28 November 1831 in Rackwick, Hoy c 3/12/1831, and died 1890 in Stromness.

I have checked both her marriages.
emigrated to Canada 1883 with daughter Catherine and her husband James Thomson, If this is correct she left her second husband at "Murra" in Hoy a Retired Farmer with HIS daughter Georgina and his son in law Sinclair Manson. At the 1891 census he is recorded as a Widower.
