Montage
« on: Saturday 12 August 06 11:39 BST (UK) »

Hi Guys,

would any kind soul be prepared to do a montage picture of 4 generations of wedding pictures intot he one.  All the pictures are of very good quality going from 1870 - 1987, I would dearly like to have this done but my computer is a little under powered ............as is my ability to use Photoshop.

I have attached my mother & father's wedding picture and that of my gran & grandfather for starters, I just need the bride n groom from this one from the first one.
I would like to add my own wedding picture and that of my Great Grandfather

any takers

Wishing you all the best,

Swally from Scotland

Post the other pic's along with instructions for any cropping ect and we can have a look. In the meantime have you any idea of just how you want it done? or would you like to look at suggestions?

Swally,
Here is a bit of an idea.

Could make the background one of the churches where your ancestors wed, could also include certificates. Or do you prefer a simple montge with only the wedding pics, tell me what you think before I go any further.

I like the idea of this one, put the rest of the pictures up and I for one will have a go.

Denn has a good idea on how to tackle it.

Denn,

a simple Montage would suit to be honest, I think it may be a bit cluttered with the dates on it.  A church bakground might be quite a good idea though, there would have been about 7 churches involved I have a picture of Calderhead Parish Church in Shotts where my parents were married I'll send it see what you think.

Wishing you all the best,

Swally,
Whatever you wish, I can have a look at the church pic's and we can go from there, I would only leave the church as a very faint image - so as not to interfere with the main pic's.

Swally,
I think that this may be what you're after - see what you think. As for any text, just let me know exactly what you want and where.

Just looking at that, I reckon that your own wedding pic could do with being a bit bigger to fit with the others better.

Lones

My rules for printing are to try and get
300dpi (or more) for a decent print
    200dpi is okay
150dpi absolute minimum - only as a last resort

So if you consider that your screen is 72dpi (round up to 75dpi for a nice easy divisible figure - then 75 is half of your minimum 150dpi, so it would print at half the size you view on the screen (not a bad rule of thumb - half size of what you see on the screen for a passable print).
However, this said in this case where I know it is going to be printed I have a second copy to email to Swally at 16x12inch - 200dpi (this is3200x2400pixels)

    Hope this explains okay.

Denn,

You have done a good job here, but possibly I was not as clear as I should have been.  What I would really like was that all the people appeared in the one big photograph as if they were all at the one social event.
I understand this may be a bit more difficult but if you wouldn't mind being up for the challenge, I think that would make an even more spectacular photograph.  In my own wedding picture the bride n groom would do nicely.

What I am trying to create is all those directly bear the Allan surname and those who are left to carry it forward.

Wishing you all the best,

Denn,

just a thought.
I imagine that you would need some idea of heights in order to do this.
I myself am 5' 10 my father was 6'0 as is my brother (non kilted one)
my other brother with the kilt is 5'8.  My other uncle who is pictured would be just short of 6'....poss 5'10 - 5'11
My gran would be about 5'4 it doesn't matter about my Granda as he is seated but he was 6' +
My great gran I have no idea but my great grandfather was tall possibly 6'
I hope that this is some assistance.
