looking for the marriage of alexander cockburn and helen platt, i have found two sons for them who were born in buncle and preston in berwickshire. found another son joseph born in 1802 in fouldon. cant find a birth, or a death.

Sorry haven't found a marriage either...but did find another child that I think belongs to them from the OPR index in the parish of Foulden born in 1802

Father: ALEXANDER COCKBURN
Mother:HELEN PLATE

thanks for that, i dont have a clue when they got married , the first birth that i have for them is 1791, thats were i started 20 years before and after. i was looking for a child called after alexander but have found nothing on that. i didnt have joseph birth thanks for that, but i have thomas born 1791 and john born 1797. thanks for your help katie

Hi there,
There is a marriage showing in Chirnside, Berwickshire (between Buncie & Preston and Foulden parishes) for an Alexander Cockburn in 1783, but the name of the bride is shown as not given (sometimes this happens in the OPRs - only the groom's name is shown).
I searched from 1770 to 1803 and this was the only 'likely' match for Berwickshire (the next closest match is in Keith, Angus - the opposite end of the country!!).
Unfortunately, you can't see the OPR entry online, so you would have to go to Edinburgh to see it, or go to your local LDS family history centre and order the microfiche. However, you probably won't get much more than the Groom's name the case of the entry above, so I am guessing that there won't be much chance to get either set of parent's listed 
I can't find any other children than the 3 mentioned.
