Well gang, it's up
Just one photo that somehow didn't load - must be a broken link or something. I'll have a look tomorrow.
I'm having a glass of wine now
Thank you all - and especially, Bob, who was there at the beginning and followed me through
Gadget
PLEASE NOTE - I did not start this thread. Someone (wonder who ) chopped it off from the NOF Club

Well done. Looking very good already.
Like Paul, I was looking for the guest book!
Have I talked to you about site stats yet?
Enough of that tweaking stuff, just enjoy that glass of wine (or two, or three ...)

HI NOFers
Sorry, I missed the stats thread. I was working.
[NB I'm doubling up StatCounter and Google Analytics at the moment - Stats Counter is good for activity hour by hour, but Google is good for analysis.]

Oh - I do need advice on search engines - Julian I noticed that you suggest registering with Family History and Google - low down please Gadget But on registering with search engines etc, I refer you to Step 12 of Step-by-step guide to building your website - http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,93490.msg724901.html#msg724901
The "commercial" site engines are the ones to get cracking on - the first part of step 4. The "mutual linking" stuff (Second part of Step 4) means you end up with lots of links and/or logos on your site - something I'm grappling with presentationally. Hope to sort it when the grand site redesign in NOF8 happens (sometime before the 1911 census is published, I expect!), not least because I plan to write potted biographies for my key ancestors and that will take time.
Hope the link is helpful.
And just to get you going (while I zoom off on the family hols to somewhere warmer) have you thought of google maps - see http://juliancbaker.rootschat.net/html/great_chesterford.html ?

Thanks Julian
I shall examine it all tomorrow
It doesn't take long to write biographies - just longer than putting up boring old trees
I'm off to Ireland soon

I'm off to Ireland soon We were in Ireland in May, and did some roots searching for my wife's ancestors, on the ground. We found the auld sod (a derelict farmyard) and in escaping the attentions of a cow, I managed to step in its (or a pal's) doings. So careful how you go.
But, apart from having to clean my boots carefully, we had a great time. Hope you do too.

The goggle maps are really impressive. It is difficult to do?
I'm not off to Ireland but would like to - one of my threads disappears into Cork and one day I am going to have to follow it!!!!

Well I've now registered with all the main search engines listed.
So we shall see what the stat counter shows.
Found a couple or three more little errors but no one saw and they've been changed

Oh - I've redone about 4 different pages - little smidges of typos that no one (including me in proof reading it 698 times) saw. I missed Agriculture from the Work Page for a start
Now what section shall I do next - think the Trees then a bit on Work and Places. Then some Photos..........................
Gadget
Oh Thank you Karen
