Hi Sue!!!

Do you know who his parents are, or where the previous generations came from?   This might give you an idea as to where he might have been born.

I have found two in the 1881 Census:

Charles Mott Richardson
baptised 3.6.1810 Much Hadham, Herts.
parents John Mott Richardson and Anne ?

Charles Richardson
baptised 7.6.1817 Ridge, Herts.
parents John Richardson and Anne ??

Kind regards

Thanks for what you found in 1881 census.  Unfortunately I forgot to mention in my posting that my Charles died just before the 1871 census, but the places you mention may give me a lead. I also have no idea of his parentage and cannot find his marriage to Ann Herbert  which I think was around 1840ish.

Hi Suepip!!

Have you tried ringing the Hertfordshire Family History Library 01438 737333 (Ask for HALs Library and they will put you through).

They do searches for the Hertfordshire area.  They do charge but it is only a small amount.  They maybe able to find him for you.

Kind regards

Hi
Is there anyone going to Hals could look for Richardson marriages around 1780 to 1810.  If I can get an idea of which areas of the county Richardsons were living, I may be able to track down the baptism of my Charles.

I have found Charles on the 1851 and 61 census living in London.

Many thanks for any help.

Hi Sue,

I have obtained a printout of the Allens Index from HALS covering the surname Richardson for the period 1780-1810.    I will gladly send this to you if you will let me have the postal details by PM.
