Looking for info on Sippitts (spelling varies from record to record) in Sussex.
Esp. info on ALFRED Sippitt born in 1836 in Sussex (1891 census gives his birthplace as 'Artfal' Sussex possibly Hartfield?)  family moved to Staffordshire (no idea when)  Alfred's daughter Faith Hope Charity Sippit was born in West Bromwich in 1863. Any one any info about Alfred or other Sippits? Having problems finding records for before 1891 census cannot find them on West Brom census for 1871...
Would be grateful for any info
Cheers,
Meg.

Hi Meg - there are 26 Sippitts on www.thesussexweald.org - some in Hartfield, a few from the 1841 and 1851 census  Grin

Hi,
Many thanks.
I had a look at the site you recommended, found an Alfred born in 1834 (mine was 1836, but, this could be wrong, I know he signed his name with an X on his daughter's birth cert, so he may not have known his birth date!)

It's a possible!
They are proving difficult to track down, I have found this with my unusual names, oddly enough the common names are easier!

Many thanks for your time.
Cheers,
Meg.
