Thank you Winston and Slee,

Winston - William Williams occ on his marriage cert was Iron Worker, his father James was a General Labourer.

Slee, I have no idea about emigration, it never even crossed my mind.  Martha (Pattie) definately emigrated, she ended up in Miami, she left the UK in about 1925.  In the late 1940's Elizabeth Ann Hewitts daughter Evelyn and family moved out to the US also.

Margaret stayed in the UK, she died in Middlesbrough in 1927.  As for the rest - I have no idea!

Another snippit of info from my new cousins - they have a death notice for a Rachel Donaghy, aged 9, 7 January 1938.  She was buried at Eston Cemetery.  My cousin thinks that she was the daughter of one of Martha (pattie) and Margarets sisters.  I cannot find a marriage for an Amy or Rachel Williams to a Mr Donaghy, neither can I find a birth for Rachel, I have searched from 1921-1930 so far.  I did however find 2 Donaghy births with mothers maiden name as Williams, Kathleen in Septh 1/4 1925 and Francis December 1/4 1921, both in the district of Middlesbrough.

I was wondering if Rachel's grave at Eston was still standing?  she was buried in section M grave number 563....would the MI give us any clues?

Sorry I'm adding more confusion!  My head is about to explode!!

Thank you all for your help.

Love

Oh dear.....

I think I have found Martha's birth record so I'll email the RO and check the parents just to be sure, shame I can't find any of the other sisters birth records to confirm their existance!!

UPDATE  - - - I have found a birth in 1895 for a Rachel Williams and a birth in 1892 for an Amy Isabel Williams, have emailed the relevant RO's to ask for parent confirmation...fingers crossed.

No sign of Margaret though, apparently she was known as Meg or Meggie

Allegs

Maybe the other children including this new one Rachel Donaghy were born overseas maybe the parents were in the Forces.

Maybe the marriage for the Donaghy Williams is on that register as well.

So could it be worth checking the GRO overseas section?

Heres the web address but you have to buy credits!

http://www.1837online.com/HomeServlet

and then click on Births marriages and deaths, then from the page that loads click on births overseas ( its the third one in the first column).

And from this page you can also search for the marriages as well.

Hi,

I see in the 1901 census that Margaret is age 8, I expect you've seen these births already, but just in case  Smiley

Margaret WILLIAMS  Dec Q  1892  Middlesbrough  v.9d  p.586

Margaret WILLIAMS  Jun Q  1893  Middlesbrough  v.9d  p.643

Hi Daisy,

Thank you, yes I have seen those births, I have emailed the registry office and I'm awaiting confirmation of the parents.

I have also received confirmation about Martha Jane (aka Pattie) and Rachel Williams births, their parents were indeed William and Jane Williams formerly Thomas.  So at least I know they existed!!

However Amy Isabel Williams is not the daughter of William and Jane Williams

Thank you for keeping searching Wendy!

I now also know that Margaret is buried in Eston Cemetery with her parents Jane, who died in 1902 aged 29 and William who died in 1895 aged 35, that'll be why we can't find William....but where the heck is Jane and the other 2 children?
Unfortunately the graves are unmarked.....

By eck you don't waste time do you.  I expected that you'd be waiting ages for some confirmation about the grave of Margaret and whether she would have family with her or not.
