VIZARD help 1871 and before
« on: Sunday 27 August 06 10:36 UTC (UK) »

Can anyone help with finding this Vizard in any of the earlier censuses....He was In Canada in 1881 and his family (or part of it) may have gone to the USA. There are links with Antigua.

Descendants of Andrew (RN) Vizard

Generation No. 1

1. ANDREW (RN)2 VIZARD (EDWARD1) was born 1841 in England, and died 27 Oct 1922 in 130, The Grove, Ealing, London. He married NINA ELIZABETH LEDEATT. She was born 1852 in Antigua, West Indies, and died 17 Jan 1935 in Cosham, Hampshire.

Notes for ANDREW (RN) VIZARD:

In 1881, he is living in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada (Ward No 6) as a Naval Storekeeper.

Birth likely to be on:

Vizard Andrew Martley 18 421

Children of ANDREW VIZARD and NINA LEDEATT are:

i. ARTHUR3 VIZARD, b. 1872, Antigua, West Indies.

ii. LEONARD VIZARD, b. 1873, Antigua, West Indies.

iii. ANDREW H VIZARD, b. 1875, Antigua, West Indies.

Notes for ANDREW H VIZARD:

Probably became a Dr in the Navy

iv. NINA VIZARD, b. 1877, Antigua, West Indies.

v. WINIFRED VIZARD, b. Sep 1880, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The 1901 with wife 'Mina' shows his PoB as Gromley, Worcestershire ...

I can see him on 1841, 1861 .. 1851 and 1871 will need digging ...

cant be found 1871.

Given PoB of wife and DoB of 1st child I'd guess he was out of the country ...

Thank you very much to everyone.
Yes, they were probably abroad in the 1870s. It would seem that they had another child b 1870 in Antigua (Clayton Edward Vizard) who died aged 3 and who is buried there. I can find no record of a marriage and so I would suspect that that was in Antigua too.
