  Hi guys...have been sorting through some old paperwork of my grandad's and have found more details on his company..

  R.S.Liscoe Ltd.
Shipping and Forwarding agents
Ironbridge Wharf
Lanrick Rd. Poplar.E14

He did not wind up the business until the early 1960's, but had moved on from Poplar.

  Does anyone know whats still around in this area?

Hi Tazzie,

There's a DIY store and a Food Services company among other things on Lanrick Road.  I got this by Googling - surprised you didn't think of this after your sterling efforts on "So you think you can Google 1- XIV") Wink Grin

Do you know when he started the buisness?  www.historicaldirectoriesonline.org has London directories going up to about 1915.

  I think I'm googled out with coming up with the goodies connection tonight.

Grandad would have started the business in the 30's.
He also had Richard Liscoe Ltd,Shipping agents at Old Hall St Liverpool he employed a manager to look after that one.
Around 1942 they moved to Winchmore Hill near Amersham and ran the pub there "Potters Arms". As he went on to open several more businesses,he does not mention still having the shipping company so wondered why it would have taken 20 years to wind it up.
