Slightly off-subject, but was looking at this great site yesterday that had a VERY detailed description of Bethnal Green in the mid 1800's. It wasn't very complimentary! Well worth a look when you've got an address as it names most of the streets and describes their condition. Of course, you may find you're family come from 'unhealthy parish of Shoreditch'

Has definitely changed my perceptions of my ancestors!
