Forsyth - Benholm/Bervie

A John Forsyth (1836) moved from Cromarty before 1861, parents John & Mary Forsyth (nee Bain), he is not with them on the 1861 census in Johnshaven.

John Forsyth married a Elisabeth Freeman in 1862 at Bervie, children all born Benholm, John 1863, Christina 1865, Mary 1867, Elizabeth 1869, Helen 1871 & Alexander 1872.

Hi Beckey,

On the distaff side, Walter Freeman and Elizabeth Criggie married at Bervie on 5 Dec 1834, and had:-

Elizabeth 16 Nov 1835 (died young ?)
Alexander 7 Jun 1839
Elizabeth 27 Oct 1841
Christian Criggie 2 Jun 1843

All were born at Bervie.  I researched the Freeman family some years ago, and they go back a considerable time in Bervie, or rather the fishing village of Gourdon which is within the parish of Bervie.

Hi Beckey, My great grandfather Joseph Freeman was born
in Benholm 1844.  Father Joseph= Barbara Middleton
     There must be a connection between him and Elizabeth
maybe cousins.

Hi Joxer,

All I have on that side is 1841 Gourdon, Bervie.
Walter Freeman 33 Whitefisher.
Elisabeth Freeman  30.
Elisabeth Freeman  5
Jean Freeman  3.
Aleaxander Freeman  2.
Isabella Criggie  25  Female Servant.

The other Elisabeth was born 27/10/1841 at Bervie and married John Forsyth in 1862, so I have no other info on the Freeman side.
John was in Benholm in 1881 and seem to have moved after that as I can't find them on the next 2 census.
