'Screen dump' - just a suggestion
« on: Saturday 02 September 06 09:28 BST (UK) »

I've been having a read through some of the tips here and found loads of useful advice, so, for what its worth, would like to offer my own 'two pen'orth'.

Screen dumps.  Thanks to 'modern education', my daughters' ICT lessons taught me the joys of the screen dump which allow me to 'plonk down' any page I want, crop, re-size and generally 'muck about' with anything I like without the need for specialist software.

OK, so sometimes I have to 'dump' a Census form in 4 pieces and join them together (depending on the magnification I'm using), but, having extracted the info I want,  I can re-size them to fit on an A4 page to stick in the file, or I can print them full size.

Who says modern education doesn't teach them anything  Smiley

How do I do a screen dump

Well, actually I was going to say "what is a screen dump?" Grin

So that's how some people get pictures of what is on their screen onto Rootschat ...................... and there's me wondering if they were photographing the screen with a digi camera, uploading the image etc. etc.. Shocked

Because I use Microsoft Publisher for just about everything (since Word isn't flexible enough for my needs), I 'dump' into that.

Just a tip if you are using Publisher - make sure you 'click off' the previous image you 'dumped', otherwise the new image will just replace it.   And, of course, if you're familiar with the program you'll already know how to crop, nudge, resize etc.
