I seem to be having the same problems with the new server that I had when the Chat Room was first launched, i.e. I get "Loading Settings.............0%......................Done" - and nothing happens.
I have tried umpteen times over the last 24 hours - tried opening it in another window, tried to refresh the page, even rebooted the p.c., but no joy!

Have you gone to www.macromedia.com and downloaded the latest version flash? We'd love to see you there!

I did the flash thing (unnecessarily) when Rootschat launched. For the first few days I couldn't get into the chatroom, then it suddenly seemed to work like a dream. Now I seem to be back to square one!

ps Has there been an update on Macromedia in the last 2/3 weeks?

does the speed of your internet connection have anything to do with getting into the chatroom? And while I'm on the subject of chatrooms, is it me or does anyone else get the problem of going in, seeing someone online saying 'Hi' and they log out ... is it something I said? Do I smell? Nickyhug

I wouldn't have thought it was my connection speed. I don't have broadband but every time I connect it is more or less the same speed.
I can't answer the last part of your question - you will have to ask someone closer to you! I would put it down to coincidence if I were you and just hang around awhile for somebody else to come in.

Jill - have you ever been able to access the RootsChatterBox or is it a new problem?

Hi Trystan,
Yes, after initial difficulties when the Chatroom was first launched I was able to get in until the new server took over.
Last night I contacted my 'computer wizard' and he took a look at the site and then said it is aol who are messing me about (he hates aol!) When I used Internet Explorer there were no problems and I went straight into the chatroom!
I don't really like using IE - my connection always seems very slow - so my pal has given me a little programme to put on my desktop which he says will take me straight into the chatroom, but I haven't tried it out yet.
It does seem as if the problem lies with aol, not Flash, but aol are renowned for trying to take over your computer! I stick with them because they are so good at filtering spam, etc.
I will let you know if I have any further problems. Thanks.

Just to let you know I have tested my new programme and hey presto I was straight into the chatroom - nobody there though!

Glad you can get in now anyhow! AOL blocks the "activation links" that we send out too, so its quite a problem!
Trystan PS Graceland - yes, he's Tux, keeps an eye on what I'm doing.
