Hi Jan

Sorry to hear you are still having problems with I.E.

Is there a vertical scrollbar running down the right hand side of the screen?

If Falkryn's suggestion does not work, there is something else you may want to try.

1) Close down the browser.
2) Open Notepad.  Start->Programs->Accessories->Notepad.
3) Copy and paste the following text into Notepad

<HTML>
Hello this is a test
</HTML>

4) Go to File and then Save and save the file in c:\My Documents as htmltest.htm  It must have the .htm extension.
5) Open My Documents and double click on htmltest.htm.

Theoretically I.E. should open and the words Hello this is a test should appear beneath the toolbars at the top of the screen.

You say you have the 'Address bar' showing......is there anything typed in it??....

If there isn't......Click Tools...click Internet Options and type this:- http://www.google.co.uk/ into the Home Page Address bar.....click 'Use Current' and Apply..OK...

You can easily check if its a resized window problem by pressing F11 ... this forces IE to go full screen (minus men bar etc) ... pressing F11 again would restore it to the minimised size and the window can then be dragged to the correct size

Well everyone!!!! after all your wonderful advice, my father-in-law took the laptop into PC World and now all is sorted.

I have no idea what was wrong with the the browser......he couldn't remember what they said Grin Grin
