« on: Wednesday 06 September 06 20:05 BST (UK) »

I am looking for the wherebouts of John Richardson,Born 1849 at Newsham,Cumberland,

He and the  family were at The Black Swan in Ravenstonedale ,Westmoreland in 1891,

In 1901,The family were at Murton,Westmoreland but not John,His daughter was listed as Head and his wife was listed as married leading me to presume that he was still alive then, but where??

I as yet have not found John Richardson on the 1901 census but he has appeared again on the 1911 census living with his daughter (my Grandmother)and son in law in Kirkby Stephen, whilst his wife is listed as living in Murton.

Hi, John Richardson was staying with his niece on the night of the 1901 census at
20,Durham Street,
West Hartlepool,
Co Durham,

PRO Ref RG13/4641,

John Richardson (1848-1919) was my Grt Grt Grandfarther, who's main employment was a carrier, which by todays standard, would be a long distance lorry driver,
He died at Carlisle, but was brought back and buried in Hilton & Murton cemetery,
If you need anymore info about the Richardson's just fire away,

Regards Brian

Hi Brian,

Thank you for the information. I will be in contact again but as I have just joined roots web I am still finding my way around. I do however think we may know each other (Its from long time ago!), and as I noticed Titterington was one of your interests it triggered my memory banks! I have attempted to send you a personal message but until I have posted at least three times the system does not allow that to work!
Anyway, does Alderson of Asby ring any bells with you?

Hi Alan,Yes I remember you and as you say,It was from a long long time ago,At first I though you were a Hayton but your user name was the clue Grin
I have John on census going back to 1851 but I am unable to track him down for 1871,
If you would like to post a topic on the Westmorland board for him that will get your post count up towards PM,

Regards Brian

PS,There are a few skeletons in the cupboard as well Wink Wink
