My Gx4 Grandmother Isabella Laycock (nee Bunker)

Elizabeth PARRY/PERRY Transported to Australia
« on: Thursday 07 September 06 03:54 BST (UK) »

I am searching for information on my GGGGG Grandmother, Elizabeth Parry.  She arrived in Australia in 1790 as a convict.

Tones of information has been researched on her husband James Ruse, he was a debatably the first person from the first fleet to step off a ship on to Australian soil, he was the first person receive a land grant in Australia and he is most famous for being the first person to grow a successful crop.  James was a convict from Cornwall.

James and Elizabeth were married in Australia in 1790

You can see Elizabeth's trial at the Old Bailey here:
http://www.oldbaileyonline.org/html_units/1780s/t17871024-20.html

I'm not sure where Elizabeth was from originally as it says she was a country girl but she didn't have any money so I would assume she can't have come from too far on today's standards and assume that she must be from near Middlesex.

Unfortunately like some of the early records, James and Elizabeth's deaths don't appear on the NSW BDM, however they are buried in the old Catholic cemetery in Campbelltown, Sydney.  Elizabeth died on 27 May 1836 aged 67, so she must have been born in 1768 or 1769.

Unfortunately I don't have any other information on Elizabeth prior to her hearing at the Old Bailey.  If anyone can share any information on Elizabeth prior to this, I would greatly appreciate it.
