Hello my name is Eddy,
Can anyone help.My ggf Edward Jackman, came over to Liverpool in the late 1870s,with his wife Mary (nee) Byrne. Have his marriage cert, he was married in the catholic church of St Michael's Gorey Wexford,in 1875, he was 23, born circa 1852.I am wondering if he may have been baptised there as well. I know he had two brother's James, born C 1850, and Thomas, born C 1855, they also came over to Liverpool.Their father's name was Nicholas,(occ) shoemaker. Is there anyone who could please look up St Michael's, church records for me.
Does anyone have access to the 1901 census for Wexford who could possibly look the Jackman family for me.Or any kind of information would be gratefully appreciated.
Yours sincerely E.Hoey Walton Liverpool e mail Moderator Comment: Email Address Removed to avoid Spamming

Hi
I have just noticed this. I have connections with this family (having spent a couple of days with one of the branches this week ) One of my Jackman cousins-in-law is doing a history of the family. If you send me details via a PM, I might be able to help.

Hi Gadget.
Sorry for the delay in replying.
I cannot embellish on what I have already stated I have been in touch with St Michaels (Gorey) but have not been replied to. Pity.
Thank you for replying Gadget.
I may get the break through I am looking for one day.
Yours respectfully Eddy.

I'm sure those names ring a bell.
Now do you know where Gorey is? I'm sure my cousins took me to the church there when I was over.
I must check - I'll e-mail them to find out about it.

Please PM me with your e-mail, I'll then get in touch with my cousins. They have info on all the Jackmans in that part of the world and might be able to help.
You might even be a distant cousin of mine

Yes, Eddy but Wexford's kind of a big county and I can't find Gorey on my pretty decent map of that area and it is quite important to know.
Do let me have your e-mail via a PM.
Gadget
You won't believe this - went to send an e-mail to my cousin and there was one from her asking about our side of the family - weird or coincidence

I'll let you know as soon as I hear the full details - don't worry about that. The Jackman's are in-laws of mine really - my cousin married into the family. Apparently, they originated in Scotland many years ago. There are many half forgotten stories about the Dukes(?) of Leinster and land that I am trying to grasp for. I'll be in touch.

Gadget,
I have done a lot of research into my Jackmans (also known as Chapmans) in the south of Co. Wexford and would love to correspond with your relatives so we can be of help to each other.
Can this be arranged? Eileen
