PS  Gadget, not sure if Lina is short for anything....she doesn't look liike a Carolina.....although Caroline runs in the family  Grin

You can see why I was hoping she would just turn up among my searches...have little to nothing to go on...she could be the next door neighbour's child for all I know  Sad

So we're looking for a female Taylor, born 16 December 1903, probably in the SE of England  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

If she was the girl next door, where was the house?

Cazz

I've just been wading through this thread...............
(I must say it has quite a lot of input from u-no -wo)

.......... and I've come across the reference to your grt grt grandmother Caroline Wilkinson (was that her married name?) who lived in Brighton but the family came from Herefordshire originally. The original photo was in her album.

There are no family member's to your knowledge who  married a Taylor.

I think that's all I've gleaned  Undecided

So, do you have any info on said Caroline's birth, marriage, etc. that you might like to share?

Young Lina could be a goddaughter even - given a possible similar name.

Well, that's the family scandal...Caroline never married...most improper for a teacher in that era..so she moved to Dorset with my Grandad who was brought up by another family...and referred to this other woman as 'mum'...while his real mum was teaching nearby...quite sad really....wasn't until a few years back that I was told the "Aunty Caroline" (obviously my namesake) was in fact my Great Grandmother!!!

However, Caroline did live in Brighton up until 1916 with her parents before she "fell from grace"...as did her uncle and his family..so there could be some connection there...

I just knew Tomkin would read this and I'd get an eye test comment  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  Grin
